Jakarta, (jakartalounge) – Warini’s beverage booth is located in Gereja Ayam Street, Pasar Baru, two buildings after Bakmi Gang Kelinci. ”Es Campur” with orange sauce is Kedai Warini’s special menu of Ramadan.
Instead of using syrup, Warini uses orange juice as her ”es campur” sauce. ”I also added glucose syrup as sweetener,” said Warini.
The idea of using orange juice as the sauce was based on her experiment. ”Before I use orange juice, I used syrup as the sauce. But, what is the different with the others? So, I tried to use orange juice as sauce,” said Warini.
It turns out that the orange flavour tastes dominant in a bowl of slices of fruit, palmfruit, tapai (fermented cassava), black cincau (jelly grass), seaweed, and topped by shaved ice and creamer.
The using of orange juice on this ”es campur” also creates unique and juicy taste. ”The orange flavour infiltrates on fruits, very juicy…” said Murni, a visitor of Kedai Warini.
Warini sets a price Rp7.000 for a bowl of orange sauce ”es campur”. In addition to “es campur”, Warini also sells a variety of fruit juices, milk shakes, lemon ice, and iced tea. Warini’s baverage booth opens daily at 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Azizah Fitriyanti)
